Turkey promises to execute completely the contract on purchase at the Russian Federation of the antiaircraft missile systems S-400, the president of Turkey Tayyip Erdogan said during negotiations in Istanbul with the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko. "Certainly, he noted subject S-400, having told that pressure upon Turkey was put unprecedented, it proceeds, but I as the president, I say that no changes in it will exist, we will implement the signed agreement" — RIA Novosti quotes Matviyenko. According to her, Erdogan said that he sees no reason for refusal of obligations under this contract. Earlier the U. S. Congress threatened to deprive Turkey of deliveries of the F-35 fighters if Ankara does not refuse acquisition of the Russian system of missile defense of S-400. In December, 2017 Turkey signed the contract with Russia for delivery of S-400 complexes. Such step caused concern in Washington: in June, 2018 the Assistant US Secretary of State Wes Mitchell said a possibility of imposition of sanctions against Turkey and also that placement of S-400 will have irreversible consequences for cooperation between Washington and Ankara in the military sphere. S-400 — the Russian antiaircraft missile system, is intended for destruction of all modern and perspective means of aerospace attack.
