Gazprom has increased gas export to Austria from January 1 to September 23, 2018 by 34,5% in comparison with an indicator for the same period of last year — to 7,8 billion cubic meters, it is said in the statement of gas holding following the results of a meeting of the head of Gazprom Alexey Miller and the chairman of the board of the Austrian oil and gas campaign of OMV Rainer Seele. "From January 1 to September 23 Gazprom, according to preliminary data, has delivered to Austria 7,8 billion cubic meters of gas — 34,5% more, than for the same period of last year" — it is said in the statement. The parties have discussed issues of strategic cooperation. Special attention has been paid to the course of implementation of the Nord Stream — 2 project. Miller has informed Seele that now proceed laying of the gas pipeline in an exclusive economic zone of Finland and preparatory work in territorial waters of Germany. OMV — the main partner of Gazprom in Austria. The companies interact in the sphere of production, transportation and supply of gas. On June 5, 2018 the agreement on extension of the existing contract between the Gazprom Export and OMV Gas Marketing & Trading GmbH company for supply of the Russian natural gas to Austria till 2040 has been signed. Earlier the contract worked till 2028. In 2017 Gazprom has set a historical record on the volume of export to Austria — 9,1 billion cubic meters of gas that for 50,3% (3 billion cubic meters) exceeds an indicator of 2016 (6,1 billion cubic meters) and for 33,7% (2,3 billion cubic meters) — the volume of deliveries in 2005 when the previous record (6,8 billion cubic meters) has been reached.
