Great Britain accused Iran of an attack on tankers in the Gulf of Oman — Rambler News Service

The authorities of Great Britain accused the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) of an attack on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman. The corresponding statement was published by the British Foreign Office. "I condemn a yesterday's attack on two vessels in the Gulf of Oman. Our own assessment leads to the conclusion that responsibility for the attacks almost for certain lies on Iran. These recent attacks are based on model of the destabilizing behavior of Iran and pose serious threat for the region" — words of the Foreign Minister of Great Britain Jeremy Hunt are cited in the message. In the message it is also noted that "almost for certain the division of the Iranian army — the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps — attacked two tankers on June 13". Hunt also added that Great Britain urges Iran "to stop urgently all forms of the destabilizing activity". Earlier Associated Press with reference to media of the UAE reported that the Front Altair tanker of the Norwegian shipping company Frontline transporting crude oil lit up and sank after explosion. However later this information was denied by the Reuters agency, having pointed that the vessel still burns. All crew members were evacuated and brought to the safe place. The second vessel — Kokuka Courageous belonging to BSM Ship Management transported ethanol. The crew is also evacuated from 21 persons, but one person from team got slight injuries as a result of an incident. Explosions were recorded about 8 in the morning local time. Investigation of the incident is already begun by transport companies. After that the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that according to U.S. authorities, for attacks on tankers in the Omani passage responsibility is born by Iran. This opinion, according to him, is based on intelligence data, the arms and level of examination used at the attacks which is necessary for carrying out such operation.
