Naftogaz expects the termination of transit of gas through Ukraine because of "Nord Stream — 2" — Rambler News Service


The executive commercial director of Naftogaz of Ukraine Yury Vitrenko on air of Espresso TV channel has said that after implementation of the Nord Stream — 2 project transit of gas via the Ukrainian gas transmission system "will disappear". "We consider that with creation of "Nord Stream-2", unfortunately, the transit component most likely will disappear" — the UNN cites Vitrenko's words. Earlier Vetrenko on air of Ukrainian Channel Five has said that Kiev has "plan B" on a start case of "The northern project-2". According to him, the company has submitted to arbitration a claim for $12 billion to compensate damage which will be allegedly caused by start of the gas pipeline. On July 10 the current year Naftogaz of Ukraine has appealed to Arbitration institute of Chamber of commerce of Stockholm to reconsider a tariff for transit of gas through Ukraine since March 18, 2018. The company also has demanded to exact from Gazprom $11,58 billion from March 18 of the current year till December 31 of the next year when period of validity of the contract for transit comes to an end. "Nord Stream — 2" — the gas pipeline from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea 1220 km long and 55 billion cubic meters in a year. He directly will connect the Russian resource base and the European consumers. On September 5 the Nord Stream 2 company, the operator of construction of the Nord Stream — 2 gas pipeline, has begun laying of pipes of the gas pipeline in an exclusive economic zone of Finland. It is expected that construction of the gas pipeline will come to the end at the end of 2019.
