The convention on legal status of the Caspian Sea will allow the countries which have signed it - to Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan - to expand cooperation in the energy industry sphere, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak "If to consider the convention through a prism of power cooperation of the Caspian states considers, it is possible to note that she offers big prospects for expansion and deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy industry sphere" — Novak whose words are cited by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation has told. Novak has explained that the main conditions of construction of power infrastructure facilities are defined by article 14 of the document. "The convention provides that projects have to conform to the ecological requirements and standards enshrined in international treaties which participants are the Caspian countries, including the framework convention on protection of the marine environment of the Caspian Sea and the relevant protocols to her", - the minister has noted. "The convention is the basic document for coordination of still not resolved issues. It belongs, in particular, to differentiation of a bottom and a subsoil of the Caspian Sea on sectors which has to be carried out by agreement of the adjacent and opposite states", - Novak has emphasized. As it was reported earlier, on August 12, 2018 heads of the countries of "The Caspian five" at the summit in Aktau have signed the Convention on legal status of the Caspian Sea. Work on the document was conducted 22 years. According to him, the main area of a surface of the water of the Caspian Sea will remain in general use of the parties. And the bottom and a subsoil will share neighboring states according to arrangements. The convention doesn't allow presence on the Caspian Sea of armed forces of extraregional powers. She confers responsibility for safety on five Caspian states which also have to operate resources of the sea. According to the document, navigation, fishery, scientific research and laying of the main pipelines it has to be carried out by the agreed rules.
