Putin called Russia the optimum supplier of gas for the European economy — Rambler News Service

Russia is an optimum supplier of gas for the European economy, the Russian President Vladimir Putin following the results of a meeting with the president of Finland Sauli Niinisto has said. "In this business there are certain rules - the volume of deliveries and size of a route. At such scales which Russia delivers to Europe and at such distance between points of production and points of supply of gas Russia is the most optimum supplier for the European economy", he said. Putin has emphasized that Russian gas supplies to Europe grow, and own resources of the EU are reduced therefore the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline is necessary for the European Union. "Nord Stream is a project which is necessary to Europe. Consumption volumes, including in Europe, grow. Gazprom has almost increased by 13% last year deliveries to the European Union countries. Own resources of the European countries - in Norway and Great Britain - are exhausted. It that is called "the medical fact," it is established by experts... We are ready to compete with all. We hope for the honest competition within the operating international precepts of law", - the Russian President has noted.
