Shoygu: Russia will transfer to Syria the S-300 complex within two weeks — Rambler News Service


Russia will transfer to Syria the surface-to-air missile S-300 missile system within two weeks, the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoygu has reported. "According to an order of the Russian President, the Ministry of Defence the following measures for building of fighting opportunities of the Syrian air defense system are taken: the modern surface-to-air missile S-300 missile system will be transferred to the Syrian armed forces within two weeks" — Shoygu on air of Russia-24 TV channel has told. According to him, in command posts of the Syrian army automatic equipment which guarantees identification of all Russian aircrafts will be installed. "Command posts of the Syrian connections and military units of air defense will be equipped with automated control systems which are delivered only in the Russian armed forces. It will provide the centralized management in every way and anti-aircraft weapons of Syria, conducting monitoring of an air situation and expeditious delivery of targetings. Main thing: identification of all Russian aircrafts will be guaranteed" — the minister has noted. Russia has suspended deliveries of such complexes to Syria in 2013 after a request of Israel. "Today the situation has changed, not through our fault" — he has added. The plane of Russian Air Forces Il-20 has been shot down by the air defense rocket of Syria over the Mediterranean Sea on September 17. He came back from the province Latakia to Hmeymim base at the moment when the Israeli Air Force has begun to strike blows to the territory of Syria. Onboard there were 15 people, all of them have died. Earlier it was reported that the Israel Defense Forces have sent to the Russian military the detailed document on the crash Il-20 over the Mediterranean Sea. In official papers the version of the Russian Defense Ministry that the Israeli military were covered with the Il-20 plane is rejected.
