"The court partially satisfied the claim and recognized as doubtful the data published in the newspaper obliged to publish a denial. Collected compensation of moral harm in a smaller size (30 thousand rubles from the newspaper, 10 thousand rubles from the journalist) which will be directed to charity" — the lawyer reported to RNS. "From seven statements in controversial article on which denial Vladimir Yakunin insisted the court decided to disprove only two. At the same time both statements were made in one offer of this article. The requirement about removal of article was not met, as well as the requirement about placement on the homepage of the announcement of a denial of article. Thus, we will publish a denial of this offer in the same place on the newspaper website where now controversial article is placed" — the representative of Novaya Gazeta Nadezhda Prusenkova reported to RNS. She specified that the newspaper is happy with this judgment. "We are satisfied with the judgment on recognition doubtful the data in this publication, we consider that this decision will help to make journalism more honest and reliable" — Yakunin's representative Grigory Levchenko reported to RNS. The former head of the Russian Railway Vladimir Yakunin submitted a claim for protection of business reputation to Novaya Gazeta last fall. The initial sum of claim requirements was 5 million rubles, and claims of the claimant concerned two articles of Novaya Gazeta, but further concluded the settlement agreement according to which the newspaper undertook to place a denial on one of two articles of the party, and Yakunin abandoned the claim about material compensation for that article, thus material requirements of Yakunin to Novaya Gazeta were reduced to 2 million rubles.
