"The day before yesterday we sent the complaint to the European Court of Human Rights, trying to obtain recognition of the fact of gross violation of our rights guaranteed by the European convention from the authorities of the Russian Federation. In the same complaint we ask about compensation of the penalty sum paid earlier by us" — the lawyer reported to RNS. According to him, The New Times was paid by the awarded fine of 22 million rubles several months ago, having raised money by means of crowd funding. In October, 2018 world judicial site number 367 decided to collect a penalty of 22.25 million rubles from the magazine and also 30 thousand rubles personally from Evgenia Albats as from his editor-in-chief. The magazine was recognized violated Article 13.15.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences — "failure to provide or untimely granting mass media by the editorial office, the speaker or publisher of information on receiving money which is provided by the legislation of the Russian Federation on mass media".
