Trutnev has estimated economic importance of the treaty of peace with Japan — Rambler News Service

The peace treaty of Russia and Japan will improve business climate between the countries, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev at a press conference within East economic forum has reported. "It affects business climate. The person thinks: why I will put a lot of money, to risk the enterprise if all shakes around and it is unknown that will occur further. The world and good neighbourhood create the base on which there is a development" — he has told. At the same time Trutnev has noted that it is incorrect to speak about the peace treaty in the context of attraction of investments. "We involve investments not with contracts, we attract them with conditions" — he has added. Earlier on Wednesday the President of Russia Vladimir Putin during the plenary session of East economic forum has suggested the prime minister of Japan Shinzo Abe to sign the peace treaty without preliminary conditions until the end of this year. Russia and Japan haven't signed the official peace treaty following the results of World War II because of the controversial territorial issues concerning islands in the western part of the Pacific Ocean — the Southern Kuriles. Tokyo applies for islands and considers their return to structure of Japan necessary a condition of signing a peace treaty with Russia. At the same time Moscow doesn't recognize claim on islands, considering that the Southern Kuriles were a part of the USSR according to the international legal standards.
