He noted that it is about purchase of 61% of stocks of the company. In an interview to Fontanka Shkulev specified that negotiations on the transaction took about one and a half years. "We made as some number of audits is necessary, long discussed on all details. Now this process is completed" — the mediamanedzher noted, answering a question whether change of the controlling shareholder of Fontanka is connected with the upcoming elections of the governor of St. Petersburg. "For us as for investors of this project, the governor is elected or the governor is not elected – does not matter. After all we are more oriented on another: on the market and on what in this market interests citizens. We precisely know that political news are not priority for our audience" — Shkulev noted. The publisher emphasized that investments into Fontanka are the his personal project which is not connected with the Hearst Shkulev Publishing media group which co-owner, in particular, is the American holding Hearst. Victor Shkulev is a president and the co-owner of the Hearst Shkulev media group, one of the largest publishers of glossy magazines in Russia. In particular, the media group issues the magazines Maxim, Elle, Marie Claire, Woman's Day, the teleguide "Telesem Antenna", etc. Also Shkulev is the owner of network of city portals in 15 regions. Fontanka — one of the largest regional editions, the social and political portal, works in St. Petersburg since 1999. According to Medialogiya, among the media Fontanka working in St. Petersburg is to the most quoted media.
